A night to remember – One Club – Three Teams

A write-up of our Saturday night successes by Dan Valovin, Team Manager:
What an amazing time the Marlins had on Saturday night.

For the first time ever we had three competitive teams swimming in different Gala’s at the same time! We competed in the Airtech Relay Gala, hosted by Crawley SC and at the same time we had two teams competing in the Sussex League. Our A team were in Hastings and our B team in Crowborough.  Over the three Gala’s we had an impressive 114 swimmers from 7 squads swim in 149 races .

As with all my write up’s I feel It’s important to thank those who have given up their time to help our team Gala’s run smoothly.  I would like to say a huge thank you to each of our gala coaches, our socials media commentators, our poolside volunteers, our timekeepers and of course our fantastic Team Managers who helped make sure the evening ran to plan. Last night just would not have been possible without each and every one of you so thank you.

The standard of competition was very high across all three gala’s and we were certainly tested by Dorking at the Airtech and our SL A Team were pushed hard by Hastings as were our B Team by Beacon A.The final results across the three Galas were:

Airtech Relay Trophy Gala @ K2 Crawley

2nd:         Dorking – 118 points
3rd:          Beacon – 105 points
4th:          Brighton Dolphins – 101 points
5th:          Crawley – 62 points

Sussex League Division 1 – Round 2 – A Team @ Hastings

Sussex League Division 2 – Round 2 – B Team @ Crowborough

So after two rounds of this year’s Sussex League our A team lie in first place in Division 1 and our B team lie in third place in Division 2. This means both teams will compete in the final of their respective leagues and so compete for the Division 1 and Division 2 crowns. We really have everything to swim for.

Saturday night was a fantastic night for Team Marlins and one, as a club, we will aim to build on. The overriding message is that each and every swimmer did Team Marlins and themselves proud. Really well done. We now look ahead to Round 3 of Sussex League on the 24th June. So for now #GoMarlins
